About Caroline

Caroline La Porta portrait

After spending over 10 years working in theatre and costuming, I decided it was time for a change of pace. Using resources available online, I taught myself HTML and CSS and a smidgeon of JavaScript, and learned to make websites. I started creating sites on a freelance basis until I was hired full-time for these skills.

In my new role, I learned about digital and inbound marketing and redesigned the company website, becoming an expert in the CMS Joomla along the way. On transition to the programming team, I had the opportunity to learn Bootstrap, Sass, Angular, Django, and Python while contributing to several apps being built in-house. On top of this, I built the website for the company's first app.

What's next? I'd like to learn enough to become an effective full-stack developer, and to that end am studying Python and the trickier frameworks. In the meantime, I'm working on becoming excellent at Javascript and designing as many different kinds of sites as I can.
